A new Need for Speed World feature called [b]SpeedBoost[/b] was announced recently that allows players to use real money to buy different items in game. The important thing is that none of the game's content will be locked to paying users only - play the game enough and you'll have everything available to you. But if you're in a really bad need of some powerups, there's an easy way to acquire plenty, or if you want to try out a car before you spend all that hard earned cash on it, you can rent it for 24 hours and even earn some serious rep with it.
